Lehigh Acres welcomed its first Chick-fil-A on Thursday, Oct. 8, when the doors at 1110 Homestead Road North opened at 6 a.m. — and the community showed up in force. Some neighbors arrived the night before, setting up tents and turning the parking lot into something closer to a tailgate than a drive-thru.
The opening is about more than a new place to grab breakfast. The restaurant brings roughly 120 full- and part-time jobs to one of Lee County’s fastest-growing communities. Owner-operator Patrick Feltman said the turnout showed just how long residents had been waiting — for years, locals had to drive out of Lehigh Acres to reach the nearest location.
There’s a community payoff, too. Chick-fil-A marked the opening with a $25,000 donation to Feeding America, supporting hunger-relief work through the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida — the same nonprofit we wrote about as it doubles the capacity of its new Fort Myers hub.
From new jobs to a boost for local food relief, it’s another reminder that Southwest Florida’s growth is showing up in everyday neighborhoods, not just along the waterfront.
