ParrotPhest Returns to Fort Myers Beach: Four Days of Trop Rock, Oct. 1-4

Parrot fans, take note: ParrotPhest is back on Fort Myers Beach for a second year, and this time it stretches across four days. The “Trop Rock Weekend” runs Oct. 1–4 at Margaritaville Beach Resort, hosted by the resort along with The Villages Parrotheads and the Southwest Florida Parrot Head Club.

Expect live music from morning into the night across three resort venues — License to Chill Bar & Grill, Lah De Dah Beach Bar & Grill, and JWB Grill — with steel drums, acoustic beach classics and full-band trop rock sets. Friday’s lineup includes the 6 p.m. Parrot Pageant, where the best-dressed Parrothead wins a three-night stay at the resort.

The weekend does some good, too. Friday and Saturday’s 50/50 raffle benefits the Alzheimer’s Association, with Parrothead club baskets and future Margaritaville stays as prizes; tickets are $5 each. The inaugural ParrotPhest raised $7,000 for the cause.

Early October is shoulder season here, and a weekend like this is what the island’s rebuilt event calendar has been building toward — visitors who come for the music, stay a few extra days, and rediscover the beach, the restaurants and the marina all over again.
