Keep Lee County Beautiful is gearing up for the annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 19 — and this year there are more ways than ever to take part. New cleanup sites have just been added across Lee County, and registration is now open for volunteers of all ages.

Now in its 37th year here, the International Coastal Cleanup is part of the Ocean Conservancy’s global initiative and one of the world’s largest volunteer efforts for keeping coastlines and waterways free of litter. Volunteers don’t just collect trash — they record what they find, and that data helps shape real solutions to marine debris. Families, businesses, schools and community groups are all invited to pick a location and sign up early, since some sites fill to capacity quickly.

“Every new cleanup site gives more people an opportunity to make a difference in their own community,” said Trish Fancher, executive director of Keep Lee County Beautiful.

For visitors, it’s a chance to give back to the beaches that make Southwest Florida special — a rewarding morning on the sand for families staying on the island, followed by the rest of a beautiful fall day at the beach. Registration is open now; find the full list of sites at bit.ly/KLCB_Events.
