The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club has opened sponsorships for the 2027 Shrimp Festival, confirming the island’s signature event will return Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14.
There’s a notable change for next year: the festival moves to the big field at Bay Oaks. In recent years it was held on Old San Carlos Boulevard, which meant closing a stretch of the road and hiring the Lee County Sheriff’s Department to manage safety – a major expense for the nonprofit club. Last year’s event also ran at the same time as the Times Square Farmers Market, which left plenty of visitors unsure exactly where the festival was. The Bay Oaks setting gives the Shrimp Festival room to spread out and a much clearer footprint.
That’s welcome news for anyone planning a spring trip to Fort Myers Beach. The Shrimp Festival is one of the island’s biggest, best-loved weekends – fresh Gulf shrimp, local vendors, live music and family fun all in one stretch of beach town. Having dates and a new home locked in this early is another sign of the island’s momentum.
