Fort Myers Beach’s historic Mound House is hosting an evening weather presentation this Thursday, and it’s a perfect low-key outing for island guests and locals alike.
WINK News meteorologist Katie Walls — who has nearly 20 years of experience forecasting Florida weather — will walk the audience through how forecasters turn data from satellites, Doppler radar, weather stations and computer models into the forecasts we check every morning. She’ll also explain how newsrooms partner with the National Weather Service and research institutions to keep coastal communities informed.
The program begins with refreshments at 5 p.m., followed by the lecture at 5:30 p.m. at the Mound House, 451 Connecticut Street. Admission is free for Friends of the Mound House members and $5 for non-members.
