Fort Myers Beach is getting its offshore powerboat race weekend back. ROAR Offshore announced that the Fort Myers Beach Offshore Powerboat Race returns September 11-13, 2026, for a three-day event billed as “Reborn on the Gulf” – the first powerboat races on the island in five years.

The weekend kicks off Friday with race team arrivals, practice runs, and the opening of the Race Village, where visitors can see the boats up close, meet drivers and crews, and browse sponsor and vendor exhibits. Saturday brings qualifying heats, high-speed racing action, and the popular public Pit Party, with beachfront seating and waterfront viewing along the Gulf shoreline. Live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities round out the festival atmosphere across all three days.

The return of the races is a milestone in the island’s recovery. Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce President Jacki Liszak called the event “a celebration of our community’s remarkable comeback” – one that brings visitors from across the country to experience the island’s beaches, restaurants, and hospitality, and gives local businesses a boost during a traditionally slower season.

It’s another sign that the rebuilt Fort Myers Beach is ready to host big events again. Mark the calendar for September 11-13 – it should be a weekend worth watching from the sand.
