Fort Myers Beach’s restaurant scene has a distinct personality: half old-Florida waterfront dives, half fresh rebuilds post-Ian. The result is a little more interesting than the standard beach-town lineup. Here’s where we actually eat.
## Breakfast & Coffee
Heavenly Biscuit — Good biscuits, even better gravy, and the kind of breakfast that makes you not care about losing the morning. They close at 1pm, so go early.
Dawn’s Coffee Spot — A reliable third-wave coffee shop in a town that mostly runs on gas-station coffee. Good espresso, solid pastries.
## Lunch
The Bait Box — You eat here for the view and the cold beer, but the grouper sandwich is genuinely good. Sit on the back deck if you can get a table.
Matanzas Inn — Old-school Floridian, right on Estero Bay. The shrimp basket is the move. This is where FMB locals go when they don’t want to deal with the Times Square crowd.
Smokin’ Oyster Brewery — Raw, Rockefeller, or smoked oysters. Brewery side does a solid IPA perfect for a beach afternoon.
## Dinner
Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grill — Randy Wayne White’s place. Florida-Caribbean done well: conch fritters, key lime pie that’s properly tart, and about 30 different rums. Get the Yucatan shrimp.
Cōste Island Cuisine — Elevated coastal dinner option. Great for a date night.
Dixie Fish Company — Casual Old-Florida seafood, right on the water.
## Drinks
The Helm at Snook Bight Marina — A newer build post-Ian, right on the marina. Proper cocktails and views over the boats at twilight. The closest thing FMB has to a real cocktail bar.
## The Beach House Kitchen
And honestly? Some nights the right call is staying in. The grill handles a fresh catch, Publix is five minutes away, and there’s something about eating on a screened lanai with the gulf air moving through.
